Big Bike Parts® has a new Extended Magnetic Oil Drain Plug that fits the 2014 and newer Spyders that have the 1330cc Rotax engine. This would include models since the 2014 RT and 2015 F3. This almost 1” longer plug matches the OEM and reuses the OEM O-ring for seating. The best way to prolong life is to identify an issue before it is a problem. That is exactly what Magnetic Drain Plugs can do for your engine. Magnets attract and hold ferrous metal particles that are floating around in your engine. So at fluid / oil change time you can inspect the plug for ferrous metals in your oil. Having ferrous metal on the magnet can be an indicator of an impending problem of cams, rings, rods or shafts that may need servicing. In most cases an oil analysis can tell you what type of metal and what it is from, pointing you in the correct direction.
Preventative motorcycle maintenance prolongs riding time, and that’s exactly what magnetic drain plugs do for your engine. This two-piece kit includes M12 x 1.5 (part #5-302) and M14 x 1.5 (part #5-303) plugs supporting clutch and oil maintenance that attract and hold ferrous metal particles floating around in your engine, for the Spyder and countless other bikes.

Drain plugs
This a must . This is my second Canam spider and the hex head drain plugs is the way to go . The torque head and Allen head wear out and strip . I am a auto tech for 30 years take my advise before you have a problem .

Show chrome oil plugs
Can Am Spyders have a poor designed set of oil plugs that have torx and Allen heads which tend to strip. I have used a dozen sets of the show chrome plugs with socket heads

Oil drain plugs
I purchased the M14 & M12 assuming by literature given that both had magnets for metal contaminates.

Should use these first time oil changed to monitor gear wear and other internal wear. Also eliminates the torx style plugs!

Showchrome drain plugs
I wish I had ordered these with the oil change kit. Overconfident since I had the T-45 torn and 6mm. Allen. I strpped the internal allen socket, not the torn! I suspect it was overtightened by the dealer that did the first oil change. Had to drive the plug out with a chisel and hammer fearing I would break the aluminum case! Get the plugs with the oil change kit!

Oil Drain Plugs
so long to the factory plugs that had Allen wrench sockets that were easy to round out. These plugs will be easy to remove and the magnets will let me know if Im looking at any upcoming issues.
